This correction is hitting the RUT hard, that's for sure, and it started right when the January Effect would have kicked in.

My January Effect Picks are, surprisingly, still profitable, but that's mostly due to a heavy allocation to two stocks that didn't fit all my general requirements, AAV and CVP. They've got higher caps & higher prices than what I usually choose, and they've got a dividend yield which is unusual for my January picks. Otherwise they fit my usual profile for January Effect picks, with low institutional ownership and low RS as of late December.

Besides those two, the other stocks I picked are slightly below breakeven right now.

I've been short RUT futures since Jan 4 to flatten out my long bias, so since then I've just been seeking pure alpha -- to beat the RUT with my picks, regardless of whether it goes up or down.
