I am not try to embarass you for your calculation. You should go take some math lessons before speak in this thread, otherwise you just even show the weakness for IOM. When company started to sell product, they usually need time to promote the product. Why you pointed out that JAZ drive started to sell 200,000 unit per quarter now, but not back in 1995. Same as Syqest, Even Syqest just started at 50,000 units per quarter, It already show the good numbers. Don't you know that Syqest has just announed that they have tremendos sales growth since they started the product since August. Based on people's feed back, they like SyJet better because following reasons. 1.Syjet suitable for rugular PC drive. And I believed most people still have higher percentage of PC for regular drive in stead of SCSI drive. Both JAZ and Syjet drive can used on SCSI and regular drive. But Syqest will take advantage of accepting regular drive and can be for SCSI drive if you buy another SCSI part to attatch the unit to the computer. JAZ are the other way around. So at current time, if I assume that both units has same conditions and same funcions with same price, then still will more people to jump to buy Syjet in stead of JAZ drive. 2. The other advantage of Syjet is that it have more capacity than JAZ. Syjet has 1.5GB which just about right for 2 CD-ROM capacity, On the other hand JAZ even had 1.0 GB but because of CD-Rom size limitation, it almost act like 1/2 size of Syjet. 3. Syjet really look neat and handsome compare to JAZ.
As I repeated several time before, the competetion between IOM and SYQT are JAZ and SyJET. If you see that IOM already ships 1 million of units, That means JAZ only sell 40,000 units per month for last 24 months. Then how can you point that JAZ sold for 20,000 per quarter.(40,000 times 3= 200,000?) That's go back Syjet's sale prediction, if Syquest started to introduce in February, company usually will take time to build the marketing relationship first and do some contact with retailers and that may cost couple months to let those computer stores to figure out whether people like it. so first three month will be the test period. On Syquest' earning news show much better sale in June quarter than March Quarter. Most of difference is from Syjet drive. 3rd quarter's sale is 31 millions. Based what you said, then 80% of 70% (I believe most revenue will be toward drive buying for new product)of sales dollars goes to SYQT's SYJET. That means 80,000 units for June quarter without special promotion. That is really good number for the new products without special promotion. So if we figure out that after promotion, and people started to regonize the Syjet, then they will tell their friends about it. and the sales results will be tremendous good in September and December quarter.
I personally feel good about SYJET, I expect to see very high sale growth in September and December and continue on for next year's ride. |
