EDI is an inconvenient hassle. It's been around a while. In fact it's pre-internet. It's really meant for high volume transactions, which pay for cost of implementation.
You end up spending north of 15,000 plus consulting services, and it's not plug and play. In order to save $6 bucks a transaction.

Today B2B is the buzz word for it, and sending purchase orders via email with acrobat files attached is good enough.
Most big banks handle the electronic payments. (Which is now available to consumers as online banking). Old EDI isn't needed.

I have never seen a "Bid" system involved, so I don't get that.
Especially since that means people approval.

EDI works best with pre-approved pricing, call it a contract or master agreement or catalog, if you will. Then the customer issues purchase orders against the contract.

I don't know what hidden message ACII was sending here.
More delays to install a computer system? High volume orders needing extra computers to handle it? That qualification is done and they are ramping up? Who knows!
