Please give him my sympathies!!! Knees are tough when you try to turn them in other directions....!! Trust me, I found that out from all sorts of experience..

Probably the best thing he can do for a couple of days is stay off it, and ice every hour for 20 minutes....If its so swollen, ice will REALLY help!

I never understood the power of ice, until I asked the therapist after the knee surgery why heat and cold....the ice chills everything, then to warm up, the hot blood comes in and takes all the impurities away.... I am a big fan of ice!

Saw the Surgeon a few days ago....in a few months (or before if something else happens) I have to have the left knee replacement....!! Am totally bummed. He said he could fix the torn miniscus and cartilege, but the arthritis has chewed everything up so badly that it would be a waste....he thinks the whole thing has to be done....he didn't think I could ignore it much longer...it will buckle again, and there I'll be......S*P*L*A*T.... Sighhhhhh...

It's sorta like having a baby....after the first one, you want someone else to do the job the next time....

You could always go on your trip anyhow....he could just sit and read while you go skiing...
