No doubt there are pluses and minuses to unions and professional certifications. For real estate a 1-2 year time frame probably makes sense. Given my general strategy and the (limited) amount of money I'm investing right now it could make sense to make a small bet on a well-run REIT with a massacred price in case I am wrong. re math skills, there is a difference between math skills and risk management skills. Companies need to be managed with an appreciation for risk.
