That was well-put, MM. AM recommending it. God IS beyond explanation or evidence or the scientific method. Religion is about faith, which some have and some don't. But that's exactly why it doesn't fit into a science curriculum, and those who push the removal of evolution or scientific theories that don't match up with their faith are confusing religion and science-- which is what some school districts are facing.

As for the words to live by- for those who don't believe- "In God we trust" is meaningless, as are the first commandments. I think the Golden Rule is a terrific general guide, as are the last six of the commandments. I know that my value system is pretty firmly based on a Judeo-CHristian foundation and even without faith, it still serves me well. It's those who have micromanaged and constricted God into a system of very definite exclusive beliefs that arise from their own minds and then set out to make sure the poor pagans accept it- it is these who disturb me. ANd it's why I am a very strong supporter of separation of Church and State.
But I will stop now- since LIndy isn't here to say NO RELIGION!
