Hillary's Hispanic support and the democrats' control of it in general bodes very well for the general election. The only reason GW Bush even made it close with Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004 was that he was able to get 40-45% of the Hispanic vote.

But the GOP demonization of Mexicans since 2004, (scapegoating them for our problems but never blaming their own leaders who've been in charge for anything) means that an entire generation of Hispanic voters is now lost to the GOP.

Women and moderates are also fleeing the GOP, as is the young generation. While a moderate like McCain might be able to lure some of them back, it may not matter who gets the Dem nomination as it could be a landslide victory for Dems either way.

Part of this of course is because the GOP Bush-Cheney leadership is now almost completely distrusted and blamed for a whole host of huge problems, not just Iraq but how to get back to the Clinton economy, when times were good and everything got paid for as we went, even creating big surpluses.
