Received a letter today today that Quicken will stop supporting Q 05 as of April 30, 2008. They will almost render it to be useless as all online activities will cease, including updates and quotes. Of course they included a $20 discount to buy H & B 2008 directly at a net of $80, which is still higher than most storefront retailers.

I am also using 2005, and after hearing the bugs in 2008 from many sources, dread the thought of the update hassle. May consider MM Money or ??? as Intuit has generally abandoned reasonable consumer support. Home user financial / investment software choice is so limited that they don't seem to have many competitive concerns, or care much about their reputation.

For sure, as with any new installation be sure to establish a restore point, and backup, backup, backup.
