Given that music developed and was funded by the Church- from Gregorian chant on- it seems perfectly logical that it is strongly religious in nature. To ban religious music is, imo, to gut our music education. To replace O Holy Night with Frosty the Snowman appalls me. It's the liberal counterpart to the religious who want to ban the teaching of Darwin and others in the classroom. The ground is getting littered with babies and bathwater.

I have played under a lot of directors, and my favorite was very clear with the kids. You don't have to believe this, he would say, but you have to sing it as if you do. It's all about the music.
