I find it deeply disturbing that science is not a driving factor in evaluation of environmental impacts. The history behind the discovery of the ozone hole is a clear example. wunderground.com What I find truly preposterous is the concept pushed forward by Ross McKitrick and others that only American and other suitably "advanced civilizations" (what a joke) can make accurate measurements of temperature and other environmental variables. That they are somehow better then anyone else's? A concept that flies in the face of the known facts.... Denial is a strong emotion. Check the details of the story behind the satellite data. Denial upon denial. One wonders where all the denial comes from. There was no ozone hole until the late 1970s. Joe Farman, Brian Gardiner and Jonathan Shanklin first announced the discovery of the annual depletion of ozone above the Antarctic in the journal Nature in May 1985. It's arrogant stupidity. Maybe there are just as many bad sites in the pro global warming camp. I haven't looked that hard.
