I keep thinking a ballpark of $10B, which is about $53/share, give or take a little.

Let's flip this around. ASND hired David Masunis (from a division of NT), whose job they identified as follows:

"In his new position at Ascend, Misunas will focus on mergers and acquisitions, product planning activities and coordination of technical strategies and direction across product lines."

As M/A is his first listed job responsibility, what are the likely targets for ASND? And what seems more likely, acquisitions by ASND (who might they be) or an acquisition of ASND? Or both?

On the effect of acquisition rumors: I'm following another company that was trading at about 25. About 3 months ago, it announced that it was seeking a "strategic partner" and had retained an investment banking firm to help. Over the last 3 months, the stock has risen to 36 (a 50% gain). They just announced that the list of partners was down to 4. I'm guessing that there are not many upside points left in this particular stock. Could the same scenario unfold for this company?

On the other hand, how much "support" is/are existing rumors lending to ASND's stock price? And what happens were the rumors to evaporate?
