It isn't opacity. They just don't know how to value some of this stuff. I don't either, and I can't remember the issues well enough to talk about it too much. (I guess this is my grandfathered account.) I wish I knew more.

The Economist had an article that discussed the issue with subprime. The problem is an unknown unknown.
