The Federal Reserve once again armed with garden hoses, did not arrive until the House of Cards was mostly engulfed in flames. 75 basis points is the equivalent of 3 garden hoses, while President Bush's economic stimulus plan is the bucket brigade. It is like watching the Keystone cops movies. What is it that they don't understand about the fundamentals of a House of Cards? Basic physics tells us a good strong wind is enough to cause collapse. So nearly any rescue plan will fall short, save one that physically reinforces the foundation and props up the joists.

Let us take our medicine and solve economic woes the good old fashioned way. Stop the madness. Stop pouring trillions of American dollars overseas, like we are trying to buy and influence our friends. It doesn't work. And now, not only do they not like us, they don't respect us either. Institute a flat tax across the board with both individual citizens and corporations who do business in the U.S. Then abolish the Internal Revenue Service. U.S. citizens will spend money like there is no tomorrow, while feeling a sense of empowerment....which nicely translates into consumer confidence. As for the corporations, instead of skirting our tax laws each year....or just not paying.....they can share some of their profits with our government....or face enforcement. Big deal. That medicine is not so bad after all.

Now as for the credit crunch, we allow our major credit banks.....who have been enjoying usury for decades....to fail. Yup! Liquidate their assets, and distribute them among remaining banks to use as cash reserve buffers. . . thus letting the smaller, local banks take up the slack once again. So what? We've seen it before.

As for the housing market, no rescue....keep your paws off it. It deserves what it gets. The means for legally colluding to prop up prices unabated have existed for over 4 decades now. Better yet! Unplug the MLS (which effectively put an end to the "buyers market") and set the housing market to trade freely once again. Left alone, it will find its true value in short order....and we will all be better off.

Wall Street? Don't even get me started.....not nearly enough room here to address their ills.

So what would our country be like if these changes were put in order? We would lilkely reel for a short time from change anxiety, then begin seeing light at the end of our tunnels. We would feel a sense of redemption from the sleazy greedy claws that have been sunk into the backs of common Americans for way too long.

As for the nations of the world, I truly believe they would applaud us for getting our own house in order. Now if we can just get the rascals out of office and put some true citizens in there. Yeah, like that's ever going to happen! >said sarcastically< Sorry folks. This post has no happy ending. This stuff is merely a pipe dream. It is arguably close to the truth of what would fix things. . . . but politicians will not allow it.

This sort of plan would first require a massive grassroots collective the like of which we have never before seen. . . .crossing between red and blue states. . . from the vast farmlands of the Midwest to the retirement homes and urban centers of our failing cities. .. . to the upcoming American dream seekers. This plan would require a NEW candidate for president. . . one who could come in late and make an enormous splash. . . . somebody everyone already knows. . . . like . . . . uh. . . dare I say. . . Donald Trump. . . . .or perhaps . . . .Warren Buffet. . . or better. . . both!! I truly believe under their helm, we could have a better world for our children/grandchildren.

And then I wake up. . . . and smell the coffee. . . . time for work.

Best wishes all. . .
