I own hundreds.

If trading is defined as buying and selling, then no, I don't do a lot of trading. I do a lot of buying, not much selling.

I often look to buy beat up stocks. Often I find such stocks are in a sector that's beaten up. I have usually found it difficult to pick the "best" stock opportunity in a sector, so rather than buy just one from the sector, I will purchase a package of what look to be downtrodden stocks. As a result for example, I have positions in several oil refiners, several integrated oil companies, several business development companies, several commercial property reits, etc. etc. Over several years, that's become like having my own personal mutual fund.
