A friend of mine just returned from Iraq two days ago. He looked great. A little worn out and tired, but otherwise in terrific shape and in good spirits. Of course, I peppered him with questions and he really seemed to enjoy talking about everything he had seen and been involved with. Couple of highlights:

1. When the Brits pulled of of southern Iraq and turned over security to the Iraqi's "sh*t hit the fan". A few weeks after the pullout the Brit commander had to threaten to return unless the Iraqi's got things under control.

2. "The Iraqi security forces are lazy as hell. Most of them work 5 days on and 10 days off. And when they work you were lucky to get them to work 4-5 hours a day". He was *very* frustrated by their lack of discipline and work ethic.

3. Everyone was worried about something called a "Camel Spider". He ran into quite a few while there. Apparently, the body on these critters can get to the size of your hand.

4. He and his buddies appreciated the Starbucks coffee I kept sending them.

That's about it for now....
