But they won’t be able to make that argument if their political leaders, whatever they meant to convey, seem to be saying that Reagan had it right. The question I would ask is to whom he "seemed to be saying that Reagan had it right." I don't think many would infer that. There's a political mindset that any acknowledgment of the other party is giving aid and comfort to the enemy. Those fringe people are too captured by fear and/or hatred to collaborate and govern. The rest of us can acknowledge that Reagan was a pivotal force regardless of whether we approved or disapproved the direction of that force.
