Actually, it does. If one sees a short term recession as the coming thing, then a stimulus package that focuses as much power on short term alleviation would be the focus. But if, as Stiglitz says, this is very likely to be long and deep, words I've heard from several sources over the past month or so, then the government needs a stimulus package that addresses both.

The infrastructure stimulus Stiglitz advocates for the long term could be debated as to whether it's the better of several. I happen to like it because it does two things: addresses the serious infrastructure deficit we have and offers a stimulus as well.

I gather the fact that it would do both troubles you. Am I right?
