From Drudge and typical of what's going on on talk radio also.

Basically, the conservatives don't like McCain for a bunch of reasons. In no special order:

1. Immigration
2. Not committed enough to shrinking government
3. McCain/Feingold (not exactly sure of the details on this complaint from the conservatives, but it was obviously flawed)
4. He's an old fart
5. He pretty much trashed the religious right on a regular basis until he needed their support
6. No matter what he says, he's really pro choice

Basically, he's a RINO.

I had this discussion on another forum. I still can't figure out how he's in the top tier of republicans unless a lot more democrats and independents are voting in the republican contests than we know about. It's almost like a conservative winning among the democrats.

The only conservative candidate that had any shot at all was Thompson, but you could tell right from the start he didn't even want the job. The conservatives have no candidate. They are mostly arguing about who they hate least and who can beat Hillary.
