STMicro searches for lost income. A little different view than from already posted.

theinquirer.net

me:

It looks like STM is having a full share of problems. I find it hard to believe that the company will want to pony up more money to support a NUMONYX deal that could very well end up costing even more in the end. And then there's the financing part that needs to be done. This deal is looking more and more like a lose lose situation for both INTC and STM and especially the bankers. As I've said I think all this procrastinating is great for SPSN as the longer it goes on the weaker the resulting entity is going to be. If there ever is one?

Considering the losses INTC and STM are incurring every quarter one has to wonder why both companies continue to throw good money after bad. There must be more to this than employee layoffs etc. When SP1 gets ramped at 2k WSPW INTC/STM will be scouring for crumbs as SPSN is going to own the high density(most profitable) part of the NOR market. I seem to recall Bertrand saying in the CC that INTC/STM have owned a big chunk of the high end business in the past?
