Good idea for a thread Matt. Today on NBC during football, Oracle is advertising the low price of its NC for the home--"Computing for under $299". There is going to be a lot of promotion...since we just linked from the Corel thread I will beat a dead horse. Whether or not Corel's Office for Java actually DOES find its way into such systems...surely it would be an exaggeration to think that Office for Java is dead.

It will be interesting, though, to see what happens with such hardware...what are the implications for MSFT, INTC, etc., both in terms of the OS and in terms of the browser as interface? Will certain online content providers do better than others? A lot of alliances to be formed in coming months, it will be interesting to see what these are.

Personally I don't see how even a 'cheap' home user can be satisfied with a network computer..after all PC's are only $1,000 these days. But we'll see what happens.
