Wayne, The way Thompson ran, I'm surprised he was ever elected DA of New York City. <VBG>
As to the Drudge objections to McCain, I don't see where he differs at all from Bush when it comes to Big Govt.
On immigration, nobody seems to have a real answer. As long as the GOP is committed to super cheap labor for their donors, and the Democrats are after the Latino vote, I don't see when or how the issue gets answered.
The religious right needs a lot of trashing. Of course, his sellout to Falwell makes McCain look awfully bad. It's like the guy has good instincts, but then does not have the courage to back them.
He's old. Crazy Ronnie was old and mentally unstable, but they loved him. BTW, Chuck Norris is four years younger than McCain.
Abortion is like a woman smoking during pregnancy. It is hideous, but should big govt. tell her she can't light up? And, as the women say, if men carried babies, there would be an abortion machine in every men's room. So, I'm very much against abortions, but very much for the rights of the individual. And being tilted that way doesn't solve the issue.
McCain is certainly a Republican. He is for a strong and aggressive military. He is for corporate welfare, which is why he became one of The Keating Five. Those are the two main planks of the GOP.
Both the Dems and the Reps are willing to nominate anyone who can beat the other party, to hell with America. It makes me sick. I say, let's put up Ron Paul vs. Dennis Kucinich. Both are a bit loony, but at least they have and stick to principles. |
