Samsung, Hynix to devise MRAMs

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Hynix Semiconductor Inc. will cooperate on the development of next-generation memory devices, including MRAMs, according to The Korea Times.
The two companies will jointly invest 9 billion won ($9.5 million) in a state-supported research and development (R&D) program, which will last to 2011, according to the report. The total funding of the project is 52.58 billion won ($55.4 million), according to the report.

The companies will develop spin-torque-transfer magnetic-random-access-memory (STT-MRAM) and other non-volatile memory devices, it said.
