1/25/08 update
The interest rate cut by the Fed and the promise of a fiscal stimulus plan did give the bears some pause, but by this afternoon it looked like they'd already shrugged off the one-two bunch. And, for the week, the Nasdaq Composite Index was actually down a bit closing at -12.29% YTD (vs. -11.77% YTD a week ago). YTD, the Nasdaq Biotech Index is still doing a bit better than the Composite, although I doubt many biotech investors are consoled by that fact. At Friday's close, the NBI was down -5.17% YTD (vs. -.31% YTD a week ago).
The performance of the Contest portfolios was also less than stellar, with the median closing down -7.39% YTD (vs. down -3.67% YTD a week ago).
At week's end, just 5 of the 33 Contest portfolios were in the black YTD but 13 were beating the NBI. ROBERT's portfolio (now up 5.9% YTD) managed to take the Contest lead from ROCKY9's portfolio (up 4.3% YTD).
Have a terrific weekend everyone!
