'm fairly sure Bill Maher did not use the word "brave." To be honest, I can't recall how and when the word came up in this discussion.

I'm afraid I'll need to raise my hand on this foul.

I don't recall the specific discussion, but I mentioned Maher's firing for calling the hijackers brave.

Later seeing his original quote, I realize that he did not use the word.

In my defense, he called them 'not cowardly', which by inference would mean the opposite of cowardly, or 'brave'.

At any rate, my original point was that he was canned for expressing his view that the enemy might exhibit human qualities that could be viewed by some as admirable, a simple and provable assertion otherwise.

But if we begin to see the enemy as human, we might have to actually examine their motives and then there goes that whole rush to war thing.
