I think Obama has made a very serious strategic mistake. He has turned his campaign from that of a senator running for president who happens to be black into something that seems like he is a black senator running for president.

I think you are missing a page in this book. It wasnt Obama choosing to run as a "black man", it was the Clinton camp that managed to bring race into the debate for the express purpose of turning him into the black candidate. All of the various statements that came out of them and their associates werent accidents. It eventually forced Obama to respond and transformed him from the change candidate to the black candidate. His speech coming out of South Carolina is going to be important in trying to get back on track.

From a political view, kudos to the Clinton's for performing a beautiful feet of campaign gamesmanship.

From my point of view, the irony of the people who talked endlessly about the "politics of personal destruction" taking this path is rather thick.
