I think you're looking at the labels more...pejoratively...than I am. I understand what you're saying, but people have always labeled actions as brave and cowardly. From the oldest myths we have, we see these memes- so they (imo) are important- from a sociobiological perspective. To disregard them completely, to ignore them, is to ignore a basic part of human existence. Taking them apart and examining them, does not mean validating them. I think it's just the opposite, really.
