Republicans, Don't Change Your Party Affiliation

Republicans for Obama,

If you support Obama and plan to vote for him in the primaries, and eventually in the national election, PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE YOUR REGISTRATION STATUS.

By switching from Republican to Democrat or to Independent, you obscure a simple message that needs to be sent loud and clear. By staying a registered Republican and voting for Obama all the way to the White House, we send the message that we are tired of THIS Republican administration and that we are tired of politics as usual.

Obama is a uniter and represents what is best about this country, but even so, most of us Republicans who have decided to vote for him have not abandoned our core values and principles. We still believe in small government, fiscal conservatism, and muscular foreign policy. We also believe that diplomacy is the first and best choice to solving the world's problems and that war is the last and worst refuge of a failed diplomacy. Obama also fights for these causes.

But this Republican party doesn't believe in the things that once made this country a shining beacon to the rest of the world. This current President doesn't believe in science, preferring to eschew the wisdom of scientific consensus around climate change and encouraging Creationism over Evolution. This Administration believes that enriching the oil companies and raping our Treasury while sending our sons and daughters to Iraq is in all of our best interests. This Republican party hasn't done anything to address our oil dependency, which is at the root of the greatest issues of our time: national security, economic security, and climate security. This Administration thinks nothing of spending $120B a year to help Iraqi citizens, while our economy crumbles and our citizens become poorer by the day. This Republican party doesn't seem to recognize that our great country was built on the backs of immigrants, and at the end of the day, we are all immigrants, or sons and daughters of immigrants. So we need an immigration policy that encourages and supports the new generation of immigrants that have made and will continue to make this country great.

Therefore, remain a registered Republican, but vote for Obama. Because in doing so, the statistics of record will show that when our elected officials don't stand by our core values, we will kick them to the curb. We don't elect Presidents to ignore our wishes, but to represent and fight for our beliefs. So a vote for Obama is a vote for change and hope, and it is also a vote for the repudiation of the current incarnation of the Republican party.

There is no stronger statement than a vote of confidence for Obama from registered Republicans. Be a vocal part of the change!
