Good morning TJ,

It is bitter subzero cold here, and I'm enjoying a steaming mug of hot soy milk. The morning paper is fretting as usual about declining oil production and the stalled natural gas pipeline project. But dawn is poking over the southeastern mountains, and promises another magnificent clear day like yesterday.

As you may have guessed, the behavior of the sheep in my earlier post* was induced by the simple expedient of spreading their feed in a large circle. They would gladly spell out "Teotwawki" if you motivated them. Bush and Congress hope to stimulate the economy via the same mechanism, by giving rebates to the sheeple.

Laundry? This is such a backward age. Someday we'll just hang our clothes back up in the closet instead of tossing them in the laundry hamper. Sensors will activate an army of nanotech particles that can swiftly clean anything from a farmer's overalls to Monica's blue dress!

Am heading out now to take a brisk hike and replenish the hot chocolate supplies. Will comment later on the market's "implicit beliefs".
