McCain could become a 2008 edition of Bob Dole. No disrespect to either of the two gentlemen, but McCain - if nominated - will look like yet another tired aging veteran of yet another war. The press likes him because the press would like to see a Dem President. Lengthy tenure with the establishment cannot substitute for ability, ideas - and energy.

Romney, I think, has a better chance to win. His secretive and "different" religion would be a drawback, but probably not a fatal one. True, he looks like the guy who fires people rather than like one of their coworkers... but we are electing a CEO of the nation, and not picking friends. Rudy seems to be out -- Mitt is da man.

McCain's experience as a prisoner does not make him a national defense expert.
Nor does his experience on numerous senate committees that helped lead America into a bottomless pit of armed conflicts, with no win strategy.

Today's endorsement by Generals Stiner and Downing do not impress me. Name one war, one conflict...or just one battle that either of those retired 4-star wearing generals led us to victory in.

I believe there is likely a quid pro quo at work for the generals. Perhaps a promise to upgrade their gold military retirement parachutes to platinum with a post-election appointment.
