Dear Fix,

I have given this thread different points of view about shorting. The first, I got from an brokerage source who tells me that the amount of actual shorting is vastly inflated.

The second argument theorizes that brokerages go short against their house positions.

There is another way of looking at this entire issue. If you were an insider or a group of insiders blowing off your positions then would it not be convenient to blame all the selling on shorts!

How many times have any of you heard insiders of VSE companies blaming shortsellers for the plight of their stock. Most stocks on the VSE go down when the insiders have finished blowing out their paper! They go up when the insiders want to sell more.

And if there is actually a discovery, the insiders scramble to repaper. Example, when Diamond Fields first hit in November 1994,it had only 16 million out pre split. When it split it had over 30 million pre split. During this period the insiders and their buddies loaded up.

Welcome to the VSE folks!

HARLEY
