But you have to be careful. The highly partisan will try to use your attempts at pragmatism as a club to beat you with. Because it is easy to use that to claim you "don't have principles", you just watch the polls, you have no core beliefs, etc. They will use the same against Hill... they already do. Obama seems to hold his own when attacked... the guy can talk. He might be very good at using the 'bully pulpit'.
