Triangulation was Clinton's response to the Newt-led Republican resurgence. Thats why he hired Dick Morris afterward (at Hillary's insistence), the guy who worked for Jesse Helms and produced the "white hands" anti-affirmative action ads. Clinton would have loved to have been an FDR type leaving behind some giant new nanny state program.
