When Kerry lost to GWB, I remember some people asking how it could have happened. One answer that was given was that people vote for the guy that they could see themselves having a beer with at a bar. People could envision themselves having a beer with GWB but could not see it with Kerry. I think the same thing is true in 2008 - many people can envision themselves chatting over a beer with McCain but can not see it happening with Romney.

Maybe not. Just a view.
