Last month, you could have bought PTEC for less than 10% more
than Intel paid 5 months after Intel got in!! While SYSF is way
over-hyped, PTEC is way under-hyped. Ironic, isn't it.

SYSF may be riding the coat-tails of CyberMedia, which has grown
almost 1000% in the past year to nearly the size of SYSF on a
competitive diagnostic/software fix product that is a top retail seller.
Also, Quarterdeck just bought another competitor, Verisoft. The
perceived stakes in that market appear to be huge....Verisoft just lost
a big lawsuit and have to quit false-advertising about CyberMedia on
their retail boxes.

Some think that the market is getting saturated already, even before
SYSF gets going. There are lots of products available and probably
many more coming on-line (including from Intel). Those already
on-line have a big head start over SYSF in this specific market and
particularly in retail. How much of SYSF is real and how much is PR?

Is SYSF product better than the others? Probably not. NEC just
signed an OEM bundling agreement with Cybermedia, not SYSF,
even though I'm sure SYSF hounded NEC about it.
(see www.cybermedia.com)

What if Microsoft fixes their own software and puts these guys all
out of business? What if PTEC acquires Cybermedia or another
of the many competitors that have a jump on SYSF? This is an
exciting business, isn't it. Anything can happen. SYSF is wound up
like a giant spring (on speculation) that can go quickly in either
direction. I won't touch it...I'm not brave enough.
