This is an honest question because I really don't know.

Did we deal with the same kind of post war attacks in Germany and Japan?

In both cases we leveled those countries and brought them to their knees. I'm not sure if we've done that in any war since. It seems to me that we've gotten into conflicts but never finished the job in any war since WWII. I don't really consider what we did to Iraq in 1991 a war so I guess I'm speaking specifically about Korea, Vietnam and the current situation
