"Say hello to a recession bordering on depression and watch all the hard work in Iraq evaporate as we pull a Vietnam."

I purchased a business in 2007. I had intention to depreciate using accelerated depreciation. Concern that democrats might win control of the tax laws caused me to change to straight line. That will increase my tax burdens in the first couple years but will reduce it in later years as the effects of confiscatory taxes start to take hold.

I can't see that kind of tax policy remaining in effect very long. Memories of good economies from lower taxes will make it difficult for democrats to retain control.

It is a crying shame that Republicans chose a legacy of wasted earmarks rather than tax cutting and or protection of life for their period of control over Congress and the Whitehouse.
