Google, Dell Rumored To Be Teaming Up On Cell Phone

Google (GOOG) and Dell (DELL) are working together on a mobile phone and could announce their partnership at next month’s 3GSM conference in Barcelona, according to Marketing Week.

The story attributes the information to “senior industry sources,” while noting that “Google insiders deny an announcement is due in the near future.”

You’d think that such a device would be based on Google’s new Android software for mobile phones. Note that the company last year hired away Motorola (MOT) cell phone chief Ron Ron Garriques; supposedly he involved in the project. Last month, in fact, there were rumors that Dell might actually buy Motorola’s cell phone business.
