Complex calculations in anything but SI units would be a big headache imho.

True, most Americans think Watts are only for electricity. They don't understand or remember that Mr. Watt was an inventor of steam engines. When scientists were discovering the properties of electricity they made the units work with Watts. So all electrical became Metric world wide because there was no other measurement for it previously.
