AAPL SUNW CRUS BCOM - & syllable words?
aapl - have you seen anything in writing, yet? I saw the one article referenced on the aapl thread but that was self described rumor. I assume you like the Oracle / Apple connection. Is your thinking the rumors alone will drive the stock, or have you heard something more concrete regarding the merger talk?
sunw - re the new paradigm vis a vis msft, Addi Jamshidi on the sunw thread has postulated that the server centric environment is the new paradigm. Ironically sun has been beaten down recently, probably because of suit against msft. May be good buying opportunity but I'd like to get a better handle on what they want from the law suit.
crus - Cirrus Logic was 60 not so long ago, 17 today (up from 8 this year, however). The company fundamentals are coming together, but more telling to me is the consistent buying by Alfred Teo. He has quite a string of successes; Music Land, American Bank Note, and Citizens Bank among them. He and his wife take a large position in a company and then aggressively push the board of directors. I see him as more than just a predictor, as he moves in and impacts the company. He's been buying crus for some time now (most recently 10/2) and has accumulated a little over 7% of the company.
bcom - small San Diego bank specializing in sba loans. Incredible run of earnings and revenue growth. Rumor of take over. The stock ran hard from 24 to 30 on rumor of good earnings, then tanked 5 points when earnings exceeding even most optimistic whispers were announced. However, stock has recovered and again climbing. Next quarter rumored to be bigger yet. Bank owners are old, tired and rich. Looking to roll their shares into larger entity so they can get liquid. Takeover talk (rumor is this year) plus more great earnings should continue to drive this stock short term.
Thanks for the stock tips, the explanations, and the many words of wisdom. I read and savor them all.
Re syllable words - since you're a writer what's a syllable word, and why is my favorite martian limited to just two of them?
