Things will cost what people can afford.

And people will live where things are affordable and get along fine without some things. I've had colleagues who had long commutes, driven used cars, and passed on HBO so that they only needed one income.

I appreciate the trend you're talking about, which is part of what I had in mind re kinks. As more families opt to live on one salary, prices will moderate. In the meantime, problem solvers explore other options and make other choices.
