I can't imagine living in Berkeley in the first place. But with hooligans like the City Council, they would be very familiar with my views....and those views of others who felt like I do....
Most Americans are more content to sit back, and let others do the work of making a point on the opposite side of groups like CodePink, Rukkus Group, etc etc etc. And honestly, those groups have come to realize that most thinking Americans are in fact lazy and won't stand up to them.
The ONLY time I've marched in protest for anything, was in December 2000, after the election and before it was decided. Algore kept insisting on recount after recount and court decision after court decision. Several thousand RightLeaning people in Seattle felt as we both did and do....and marched over a mile from the KC Courthouse to the Waterfront, carrying signs and American Flags.
We very determinedly (is that a word?) got our point across, and very Lib Seattlites, sipping their lattes, hanging out the doorways of DT Seattle buildings, were aghast watching the very Republican demonstration. That had to be one of the very few times in recent US History that a spur of the moment group of Republicans and other interested and concerned Americans marched in this, or any other, liberal American city. |
