This goes such a long way in illustrating the state of perception with regards to Intel and AMD. Intel is always under the microscope, and people demand the absolute best. If users can clock to 4.3GHz, they'll demand 4.5.

AMD, on the other hand, is the company that can do no wrong. Delay a product by 3 quarters? Ship below performance expectations with a faulty bug, and then apply a patch that saps performance even more? Release a second patch that allows you to remove the first patch, and call that a performance upgrade?

All are open game for AMD end-users. They'll accept anything, even things that affect the performance or reliability of the chip at stock speed, and be happy about it. But if Intel can't run efficiently while overclocked over 40% outside of spec, then the critics just can't wait to point their stubby little fingers.
