"Total failure. Folding his tent without even trying. " Buddy, you are a total failure at seeing what actually happened. I was a huge fan of Social Security reform. I posted widely on the subject on SI in several subjects and elsewhere. President Bush tried to lead America from the precipice of disaster. Nobody from either party was willing to cooperate so he wisely dropped the whole issue. We are now one Presidential term from the cash flow possibly reversing. He tried to lead on tax reform. He tried to lead on healthcare reform. Etc. His own party was busy trying to divy up pork and democrats were undermining the President for sport.
