Energy policy is an area where both sides have failed with partisan approaches. Ironically, we need to take up most of the proposals from each side and combine them. Alternative energy development for the long run but more nukes, expanded drilling, clean coal technology and higher CAFE standards for the next decade or two.

Keeping the dollar strong enough to buy oil and maintaining fair and friendly relationships with all the suppliers is another priority. Though I can't recall anyone ever refusing to sell us oil - the boycotts have come from our side.

Watching each side tout their agenda while blocking the other side of the aisle has been a miserable waste of time.
