I don't know how you guys are coming to that conclusion. Few if any of the national polls support your position. Pundits are saying that the RNC is in disarray but I see no evidence of that. There are a few Republicans who like Obama which the political pundits have blown way out of proportion. Finally, there is little in GOP history to suggest that they fall apart under negative pressure. It has been 7 long years under Bush......has the 33% hard core wavered......not an inch. We've seen how Hillary's support has shrunk under an assault from a newcomer. Except for hard core feminists, I think she is a hard person about whom to get excited. If she is the Dem candidate, I think the GOPer might win.

"Regardless, we're gonna shellack the Republicans in November, no matter who the parties nominate."

It is hard to come up with a scenario where anything else happens. It would have to be something like the DOJ files some sort of charges against the Democratic candidate shortly before the election. And even that might not help if the economy belly flops before the election.

If that happens, it is going to be ugly for all of the Republicans up for election. Their only hope is to drive anti-incumbent sentiments. That way, with all of the Republicans who have retired or have announced plans to not run, they would have a shot.
