Tim,

Assuming you want the government to make greater efforts to promote healthy lifestyles there isn't any intrinsic of necessary connection from such promotional activity to government run health insurance.

There is that, but even it its current role, government promotion of what it calls healthy lifestyle is a complete joke. I can't think of a sicker diet that a diet recommended diet of white bread with margarine.

Which is why government run health care would be a total disaster. Government would go from mere recommendation, which we can all chuckle about - to dispensing of care and enforcement.

Imagine a scenario of you going to doctor for something, and the doctor will tell you: "Due to recent budgetary cuts, we are now only serving patients who strictly adhere to government healthy dietary and lifestyle guidelines. So I have to ask:

Did you eat white bread with margarine today?"

Joe
