Paul; That concept is far fron new and has been used in hybrids for years for the same reasons. I expect for that reason any patents might be quite weak and readily assailable.(but Intel has rich lawyers and that often counts) Years ago Kodak tried to monopolize the camera accessory market in the same manner. They lost when it was finally determined their attachment had no novelty but was just a market protection scheme. I have never seen any information about the slot one, I had heard that it was a package with the CPU. Cache and other chips in close proximity, what is more logical than using parts on both sides of the board and also using the smallets possible package around it. I suspect there must be more to it than that or there would be no novelty at all.
