The Bridge to nowhere would have provided Anchorage a place to expand. The island had around 200 inhabitants and my understanding was that it was mostly a monument to the Congressman from Alaska and probably would provide excellent financial gains for some of his buddies. It would have gone down along with LBJ letting his buddies in on the new location for the Kennedy Space center so they could buy up the land cheap as a monumental moment of fraud in government.
