Let's run the numbers.....

Just in the US:

With 100 million households, let's assume that:

1. 75% will want to take advantage of increasing viewing quality by 30% or more and being able to receive the new digital TV stations by the year 2001.

2. 60 million select the DSTB (digital set-top box) at $300 a pop for a total of $18 billion and that Zenith get 1/3 of the market for a total of $6 billion in a little more than three years.

3. 10 million select the SDTV at $2,000 each for a total of $20 billion and Zenith gets on-fifth the market for a total of $4 billion.

4. 5 million select HDTV at $4,000 each for a total of $20 billion and Zenith gets one-fifth the market for a total of $4 billion.

5. Cable modem market heats up and 50 million digital cable modems are sold at $400 for a total of $20 billion each with Zenith getting 1/4 the market equals $5 billion.

That's a possible $19 billion in revenues for Zenith by the year 2001 from just the products listed above. Add on Divx DVDs, audio equipment, digital cameras, analog TVs, etc. and its well over $20 billion.

Add on the rest of the world and the total could exceed $30 billion.

If these numbers are anywhere in the ballpark, Zenith should be trading at well over $100 per share right now. Anyone on the Street noticing?
