You wrote.

"The south is the most conservative part of the country, the bible belt and the most bigoted part of the country. They had to be forced to integrate and they still resist gay marriage as an abomination. Imagine how that makes gays feel! I am not gay, but I feel gay bashing is EXACTLY the same as blatant racism.

And I think the Republican party actually has making gay marriage unconstitutional as part of their party campaign? That is how primitive they are!!

So there is the equation."

I keep writing and saying that you are so right on but it's true.

My reply.

I love the NC mountains but the Baptists reign and they have
a big influence on politics.. Some even fly the Israeli flag because the Jews are to be part of that event the name of which escapes me... within a decade..

The people themselves are wonderful, friendly and caring but
underneath there are these prejudices that surface so that one avoids politics or religion.

There are so many things about the Republican Party that are not compatible to my way of thinking at all a significant one being this gay marriage amendment that they want to use to change the constitution. Imagine. Of all the important things in the world... that an amendment would help the Republican party stoops to one that divides our country and is prejudiced against a minority... Unbelievable to me.

I received message in my mailbox from Huckabee as an inducement to vote for him and in it was the gay amendment issue. I wrote back in the space provided that I never would vote for anyone who is promoting bias and using a group as a scapegoat to be popular. That is the problem . Instead of the candidates doing what they think is right and just they
adapt to the crap that a few religious leaders say is in Leviticus... They negate the rest of the Bible so that they have a standard for their hate... That is all it is.
